Exploring a New Regional Park for Riverside County Supervisorial District 4 (Desert Region)

The Riverside County Regional Park and Open-Space District (RivCoParks) 

is in the process of conducting a feasibility study for the development of a new regional park in the desert region of Riverside County, District 4. 

 

The study aims to identify potential project sites within the county, where it would be feasible to develop a new regional park for the local community.

Long Canyon

The Long Canyon site is located to the northeast of the city of Desert Hot Springs in unincorporated Riverside County adjacent to the Joshua Tree National Park. The site consists of two parcels approximately 980 acres and the terrain ranges in elevation from 1,460 feet to 2,480 feet above sea level.

Big Morongo

The Big Morongo site is in unincorporated Riverside County north of the city of Desert Hot Springs. The site is on either side of Twenty-Nine Palms Highway 62.  It consists of 22 parcels totaling 1,344 acres and is currently undeveloped.

Salton Sea Shoreline

The Salton Sea site is located to the west of the Salton Sea and the city of Mecca in unincorporated Riverside County. The site consists of one (1) parcel comprised of 640 acres and is currently undeveloped. The terrain ranges in elevation from 90 feet at the southwest corner of the site to a maximum of 460 feet above sea level at the northeast corner of the site.

Desert Dunes 

The Desert Dunes Golf Course is located to the south of the city of Desert Hot Springs. It is an existing public golf course including two small ponds, naturalized areas, a clubhouse and ancillary buildings.
